I first met Dave in 1953/4 when I joined Ardleigh Green Cricket Club and have been good friends ever since.  A group of us old Ardleigh Green mates used to meet up regularly at The Thatchers Arms until this last year of course.  I have been in touch with them all and they send their condolences .  As Brian said he was one of life's great characters. I have many memories of him and one in particular was when we, John J and myself shared our 50th Birthday party at John J's house.  Things were never dull when Dave was in the dressing room.
